New service: Laptop etching!
9 July, 2008 by AndrewEDIT: We now also offer full colour wraps!

Thanks to a rather expensive laser marking machine we can now laser engrave laptop computer lids! The only stipulation is that the laptop lid needs to be anodised metal. Apple Powerbooks or MacBook Pro’s fall into this category, as do some Sony Vaio’s and others. The fully computer controlled machine etches your image onto the lid by using a highly accurate 75W C02 laser to burn the anodising layer off at a super fine 1000dpi (dots per inch).
Don’t worry it’s completely safe (we’ll upload a video of it in action asap) just look at the serial number markings and the like on the bottom of your laptop, they’re generally laser etched in conjunction with a dye to darken the writing.
Design wise the only limitation is your imagination!
Here are just a few suggestions:
- Your company or club logo
- A tribal tattoo
- Your gaming clan logo
- A heartfelt message (if the item is a gift?)
- A favourite slogan or quote
- Your own artwork

And yes, we can engrave anything that’s anodised metal, be it the side panels from a Powermac G5 or Mac Pro, a mobile phone back and even some mp3 players (the ones made from metal like recent iPods), just so long as it fits in the machine (max dimensions are 900mm x 600mm and the maximum height/thickness is 300mm).
Prices (exc delivery):
- A full laptop lid costs £95 (the upper half only is £65)
- A phone or mp3 player back is £25
- The side panel of a G5 Powermac or Mac Pro is £195 (the upper half only is £125)
